Migrating from Binance Chain to Binance Smart Chain

Step 1 — Obtain BNB & other ‘Peggy Coins’ on Binance.com

. Note that this is Binance.com not Binance.org

Step 2 — Transfer out to your BSC-configured MetaMask wallet

  • Once you have BNB or other ‘Peggy Coins’ (multi-chain) in your Binance.com account, withdraw them from your wallet
  • Ensure you select the right token and the right ‘Transfer Network’ (BEP2 for BC, BEP20 for BSC)
  • Also make sure you are using the correct ‘Recipient’s Address’
  • By doing this Binance is effectively handling the bridge for you
  • In your account you basically hold a tally of a particular token which is not realised into whether it is BEP2/BEP20 until you choose when you withdraw it.

If you have not already setup your MetaMask wallet and connected it to Binance Smart chain, follow this guide:

Visit https://metamask.io/ and select the link for your web browser
Install the browser extension and confirm the prompts

Create a MetaMask Wallet

Once the install is completed you should be forwarded to a “Welcome” screen, start by clicking “Get Started”

Welcome Screen: Click “Get Started”

Then click “Create a Wallet”

Click “Create a Wallet”

MetaMask Password

Create a password to be used to secure your MetaMask plugin. This is so that no-one can see your account info without entering the password.

Pick a password

Wallet Secret Backup Phrase

Your new wallet will have a secret backup phrase. This is for recovering your wallet and must be kept secret. You should write down these words on a piece of paper and store them in a secure location in case of an issue requiring recovery of your wallet.

Write down your secret recovery phrase and store it somewhere secret and safe

Connect MetaMask to BSC Mainnet

Now that your wallet is setup, we need to configure it to connect to Binance Smart Chain, this is easy to do and easy to change between networks using the button near the top of the app.

Click the network selection button near the top of the app

Click on “Custom RPC” if you have not previously added the BSC mainnet information.

Select ‘Custom RPC’

Enter in the BSC mainnet details as follows:

Network Name: BSC Mainnet

New RPC URL: https://bsc-dataseed1.binance.org/

ChainID: 56

Symbol: BNB

Block Explorer URL: https://bscscan.com/

Then press “Save”

BEP2 <-> BEP20 Bridge

Now that you are connected to the BSC mainnet, you are probably wondering how your BEP2 tokens can come across to BSC.

Projects are in the process of setting up 2-way bridges between BC & BSC using this guide and are open to reach out to use for assistance!

Token holders, please reach out to your project teams and let them know you would like them to set up the bridge to access BSC; it takes about 1 hour to complete the process!Guide to setup BEP2 <-> BEP20 bridge

BEP-Bridge Option 1 — Using Binance.com
